Washington: US President Donald Trump has canceled his secret meeting with Taliban leaders. The meeting was scheduled to be held at Camp David on Sunday with Taliban leaders and Afghan presidents. Trump has canceled the meeting following a Taliban attack in Kabul last week.
Trump said in a tweet, ‘They were coming to America tonight’. Unfortunately, he has confessed to be involved in an attack in Kabul in which our great soldiers and 11 other people were killed, to give false comfort.
The US and the Taliban had ‘theoretically’ agreed that the US would withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. Despite this, the number of fatal attacks in Kabul has increased. This has irked the US President and he has currently stopped his talks with the Taliban.
Last Thursday, a Taliban suicide bomber exploded with a car bomb, killing one soldier each in the US and Romania and killing at least 10 ordinary Afghan people. There is also the US Embassy in this diplomatic area. This was the second attack last week. The explosion occurred when the peace deal between the US and the Taliban was finalized.
Reacting to this, the Afghan government said that the agreement was being done in a hurry. President Ashraf Ghani said in a statement, “It is futile to compromise peace with the group that killed innocent people.”
